John Oliver states that it’s no coincidence that cops are dressed like theyre about to make an assault on Fallujah. But the proper place to compare the militarized Ferguson Riot Police is Gaza. The St Louis police chief was sent to Israel in March of 2011 for training in counter-terroism techniques and crowd control. The fact is that theres a two-way sharing of techniques and weaponry between the U. S. and Israel. So what were seeing happen to the blacks in Ferguson is a taste of whats been happening to the Palestinians in Gaza. (See my August 14th posts.) As John Oliver responded to the Missouri governor Jay Nixons state of emergency pronouncement : Oh perfect! So you took a community tired of being treated as criminals and imprisoned them in their own houses for a night! The difference only being that the Palestinians have been in a giant open-air prison for decades and now, after the Israeli invasion of Gaza, have no more houses. Oliver also references the Defense Dept. 11033 Program, where $4.3 Billion in military equipment is transferred to local police departments and the Department Homeland Security made additional equipment available from federal funds for terrorism prevention.
