John Terry is celebrating after the nine-bedroom mansion he remortgaged four times finally sold for £5.25million. The Chelsea captain, 32, sold Wychwood House for more than its asking price to help finance a palatial new home called Willowfield – with nine bedrooms, eight dressing rooms and bathrooms, a cinema, pool and sauna. It has been built at the end of his old garden, near the Chelsea training ground in Cobham, Surrey. Terry had been desperately trying to sell his old home for three years. He bought it in 2003 for £2.3m but, as he ploughed cash into the new property, he ended up with a mortgage debt of £4.6m. He tried to sell it in 2010 for £5m and was advised to cut the price to £4.25m. However, thanks to an improving market, the house finally changed hands. His agent said: “He always planned to sell and is pleased to have made money on it.” A friend said: “John’s over the moon about his new house. It’s like something Michael Jackson would have owned. It’s a palace and very Hollywood.”
