Johnny Richards, born November 2nd, 1911, was an influential composer and arranger. He is known for writing the music to Young At Heart, and served as an arranger on the Stan Kenton albums Cuban Fire! and Kentons West Side Story. In 1958, Johnny took his orchestra into the studio to record the score for a movie being filmed in Cuba starring a young Elaine Stritch. Only months later in January of 1959, Castro came to power and seized the film; the U.S. recording project was consequently dropped.
