Johnny Winters was without question my first guitar hero. I had - TopicsExpress

Johnny Winters was without question my first guitar hero. I had the pleasure of seeing him for the first time when I was very young when he made a special appearance with Edgar Winters White Trash after a rehabilitation stint that sidelined him for a long time. When Edgar introduced him by saying, People keep asking me... so, wheres your brother?, the crowd erupted in to one of the most frenzied applauses I ever witnessed. Johnny ruled the rest of the evening with the most amazing guitar playing I had ever witnessed at that time. Johnny Winter And, Johnny Winter And Live, Second Winter and First Winter ruled my turn table for a very long time. Then came the Still Alive and Well album... that ruled my turn table for a long time. Johnny was the best blues guitarist of his generation. His slide playing was better than anyones and to this day I dont think anyone can touch him. His slide playing was tremendous!! I just wanted to weigh in reflectively rather than just put up a heros post the day or day after he passed. RIP to my first guitar hero. RIP Johnny. Say hi to Jimi.
