It’s not just a matter of entrenched interest groups opposing sensible reforms—though that is certainly part of the picture. Immigration policy is complex, and even advocates with the best of intentions need God’s wisdom to avoid unintended consequences as they help to shape our nation’s laws. That’s why the Evangelical Immigration Table has placed prayer at the very center of all we do. Prayer is not about convincing God to do what we want; it is about asking God to guide us and others as we seek to “do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God.” (Micah 6:8) You are one of the first prayer partners to join this Pray4Reform movement. You have already seen how God has moved in the hearts and minds of both legislators and constituents as we have humbled ourselves before God in prayer. We have seen a level of bipartisan cooperation on immigration reform that few would have predicted only a few months ago. God is clearly at work.
