Join us for a soulful night of music and poetry at Marlees Coffee and Tea Open Mic Night featuring the very talented Vocalist & Guitarist, Gemini Slim and hosted by Soul Scribe The Poet. Feature Bio: Gemini Slim is an eclectic soul/blues artist born and bred on the red clay of Atlanta, Georgia. With that upbringing, he was influenced by many different musical styles, from Gospel and Soul, to Blues and Rock. After Formal Trumpet Training And Singing In Various Choirs, He Became Immersed In The Art form Of Music. Throughout his life’s journey, he spent time on a now defunct Label Out of California as a member of the R&B Group Sixx Feet Deep. During this time, he was known as 6’2 because all of the group members were over 6 feet tall. While on the label, he was able to soak up a vast knowledge of musical genres by being in the R&B, Soul, Indie Rock, and Hip-Hop scene of Los Angeles in the late 90’s. He is also on to be a contributing factor on his cousin Cody ChestnuTT’s Headphone Masterpiece. Hailing from a musical family, rhythm is in his blood. He’s worked as a songwriter, vocal arranger, and instrumentalist within both the Industry and Underground circles. After returning home to his roots, he first hit Atlanta’s Underground Poetry scene in 2005 as a solo artist/poet by the name of Gemini Slim. Upon finding that he had to step his game up, he found his way to a guitar in 2008 and then released a 5 song EP to promote his new sound in 2011. Along his journey, he’s grown into his own, becoming a Social Commentator/Crooner through his music. With the 2013 release of his first full length album, “Acoustic Morphine”, he plans to restore what’s been missing in music: and that’s raw, undiluted, and unhindered soul. Poets, singers and musicians are all welcome to join us and share their artistry.
