Jonathan, Yayi Flag-off Seme-Krake Joint Border Post: Jonathan, Yayi Flag-off Seme-Krake Joint Border Post George Agba — Oct 25, 2014 | Leave a comment President Goodluck Jonathan and his Benin Republic counterpart, Boni Yayi, performed the ground-breaking ceremony of the Seme-Krake Joint Border Control Post yesterday. The post which is situated at the Seme-Krake border on the Abidjan-Lagos corridor and accounts for about 70 per cent of the entire transit traffic in West Africa is part of the Trans-African Highway network programme of the ECOWAS and the West African Monetary Union (UEMOA). President Jonathan described the ground-breaking ceremony of the project partly funded by the European Union, World Bank, United States Agency for International Development and the African Development Bank (AfDB) as an important milestone in the ECOWAS integration protocol. According to him, the Seme-Krake Joint Border Post would ease the present hardship facing border users and officials operating along the Nigerian-Benin Republic borders. Thanking President Yayi, the government and the people of Benin Republic for collaborating with Nigeria on the project, Jonathan said that the ground-breaking ceremony was another demonstration of the age-long social, economic and cultural cooperation existing between both countries.
