Joni playing around with overdubs and and unresolved tensions on her guitar, all in the high ranges. At 1:45 Jaco fills out the space with a single sustained low B (fretless 5 string, I assume), lets it hang then they play some licks off each other. Slowly building up the tension and complexity, the drift suddenly but effortlessly into one of my favorite pop songs of all time. Have I mentioned that the song Cotton Avenue changed my life? Every once in a while I listen to it to remind me: "If you got a place like that to go You just have to go there If you got no place special Well then, you just go no place special"
