Jose Mourinho has virtually confirmed Chelsea’s interest in bringing Didier Drogba back to Stamford Bridge. The 36-year-old formerly of Galatasaray, scored the penalty which won Chelsea their one and only Champions League title in 2012. While Mourinho hailed Drogba has one of “the best strikers in Europe.” Mourinho is on the look out for a striker, especially since Demba Ba joined Besiktas last week. Furthermore, some fans have argued Romelu Lukaku should be given a chance at Stamford Bridge. But it is reported that the Portuguese tactician isn’t the biggest fan of powerhouse Lukaku – with the £20 million signing from Anderlecht being loaned out to Everton last season. It is expected, should Drogba join that he will be third-choice striker at Chelsea, battling Fernando Torres and Diego Costa for the starting berth. Furthermore, it has been reported that after his playing contract the Ivory Coast international will be given a coaching role at the club. Mourinho clearly states his interest in bringing back the legendary forward. “We want to win matches and win titles, and Didier is one of the best strikers in Europe, who is still very adapted to the needs of the Premier League, and we are thinking about it in a non-emotional way,” said Mourinho. “If you bring him back, it is not because he is Didier or scored the most important goal in the history of Chelsea, or because I read I need an assistant, no. “If I bring him back – and the decision has to be made soon, because I want to close the dressing-room door- it is because as a player he has certain qualities to make the team stronger.” Last season with Turkish giants Galatasaray Drogba scored ten league goals in 25 appearances, while in all competitions the forward scored 14 goals.
