Joseph Gods man of the old testament by all appearances didnt have - TopicsExpress

Joseph Gods man of the old testament by all appearances didnt have a life that any of us would be envious of. Captured and sold by His jealous brothers, falsely accused by his bosss wife of rape, imprisoned for YEARS, with very little hope of reprieve. Resident of a dungeon. Slave. Glimpses of hope dashed. Seemingly forgotten. He had every reason to complain and yet the Bible never indicates that he did anything but make the very best of each situation he was in. Then suddenly he was elevated to a status He never dreamed of (or did he). He was put in a position to save not only Egypt but the bloodline of Israel, David, Jesus. He exercised forgiveness and much grace. He could have used the situation to his advantage for hatred and revenge, after all, all those years in prison doing hard labor for just being his dads favorite couldve made him bitter and vengeful. But instead he saw that good had come out of something bad, that God had been in control all along. Joseph. Not known for the battles He won or the enemies slain. And really isnt heard of much more in the bible after saving Egypt and Israels family from famine Maybe you find yourself in a situation you dont understand. It would seem that God certainly couldnt be in the circumstances. Maybe things have just gone on so long and you see no hope. Maybe youve stopped praying and become passive toward God. All you are thinking could just be the very opposite of the truth. Look to the story of Joseph. No doubt many times he felt discouraged and felt his situation would never change. He couldve let hated and bitterness control him, consume him but no, he never gave up trusting God. He is a fine example to us all of forgiveness, endurance, trust and humility. His low prison experience ended and he was elevated to the position of savior. As he told his brothers, what you meant for bad God used for good. Think about it !!!
