Joshua 24:16b-18 “Far be it from us to abandon the Lord so we can worship other gods! For the Lord our God took us and our fathers out of slavery in the land of Egypt and performed these awesome miracles before our very eyes. He continually protected us as we traveled and when we passed through nations. The Lord drove out from before us all the nations, including the Amorites who lived in the land. So we too will worship the Lord, for he is our God!” This is a good thing. Joshua is in the middle of recounting to Israel why it is essential to continue with the Lord God. Joshua is doing something here that Israel would struggle with all the time in their future: he is remembering the Lord and seeking to remind others of His goodness, and who He is. This is good practice for us today as well, as we survey the Bible or our own lives, we are reminded by stories and experience that our God in heaven is faithful and continues to seek us with His amazing grace and mercy. Remember the sacrifice of Jesus, and remember His redemptive story. Verse/Commentary courtesy of Verse-A-Day app. verse-a-day/Apps
