Journalist Attacked Posted on July 12, 2013 by sapana| Comments Off 12 July 2013 Kathmandu Journalist Attacked Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) is seriously concerned over the incident of a journalist Deepak Dhital, affiliated with Citizen FM who was attacked by Kumar Silwal from Sukedhara, who is originally from Sindhupalchowk (Central Region of Nepal). Dhital was attacked in his rented room by Silwal related with the issue of the fight that occurred in Sukedhara, New colony on July 11. Dhital saw the fight and then returned to his home, therefore the party involved in fight accused Dhital by saying ” “you are a journalist, I found you taking interest/concerned over my case, I will not leave you”, and attacked him. An attack on journalist without any actual reason is against the press and freedom of expression. FNJ believes this kind of incident demoralized the journalist to fulfill their role. FNJ strongly condemns the incident. FNJ demands the government to punish the guilty and to be serious over the security of the journalists
