Journey Gratitude It is good to give thanks unto the Lord and to sing praises to Your name , O most High ; To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning and Your faithfulness every night. ( Psalm 92:1-2) The children of Israel witnessed first hand the mighty power of God when He delivered them out of captivity and slavery in Egypt. Signs and wonders that defied description. The destruction of Pharaohs army, the parting of the Red sea, the Pillar of cloud by day and the Pillar of Fire by night. The morning portion of Angels food and quail to the full every night . If that wasnt enough ,there was the Rock that followed them in the wilderness giving them abundant water to drink. ( Exodus chaptrs.7-17 ) In spite of all the mighty miracles of God worked in their midst and on their behalf, They Grumbled and Complained against God. They were not Grateful. And what about you and me ? Are we grateful ? Do we show appreciation to the Lord for all He has done in our lives ? Or, Do we do as they did and grumble and complain against the Lord and say in our hearts ,Why me ? How come this is happening ? Where is God in this ? Pause Oh give thanks to the Lord , for He is good ! For His mercy endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so , whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy , and gathered out of the lands from the east and from the west , from the north and from the south. ( Psalm 107:1-3 ) I remember a song that we use to sing in church in the 80s. Thank You Lord for saving my soul , Thank You Lord for making me whole, Thank You Lord for giving to me . Thy great salvation so rich and so free. That song expressed an Attitude of Gratitude . I am grateful for all that the Lord has done , what He is doing , and that which He will yet do in my life. The first words that I speak in the morning are Thank You Lord ! and the last words I speak in the evening are Thank You Lord ! I have learned to adopt an Attitude of Gratitude in my life. The rest of Psalm 107 is a record of situations that Israel found itself in . Difficulties , and distresses. Each one is punctuated by a verse that says, Oh , that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness ( vs, 8 ,15 ,21 , 31 ) If we would only adopt a continual Attitude of Gratitude I believe that we would experience immeasurable blessings from the Lord. Paul exhorted the Colossian church in this way , Let the peace of God rule in your hearts , to which also you were called in one body , and Be thankful. ( Colossians 3:15 ) Today, purpose in your hearts to adopt an Attitude of Gratitude for all He has done , is doing and yet will do in your lives. Be Grateful and Seek Him. Be blessed,and say so .
