Judgment Debt Commission resumes public sitting The Commission of Inquiry into judgment debt payments and other related matters will resume public sittings on March 24, 2014 at its new location at the former offices of the Constitutional Review Commission after a fire outbreak. A statement issued in Accra and signed by George Williams Dove, Public Relations Officer, reminded the general public that sittings would be held at 10.00 am each day and close at 4.00 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. “The Commission could also sit on Thursdays when the need arises to help hasten its work,” the statement said. The statement reminded members of the public who wished to testify or volunteer information to first report at the Commission’s Office to give their statement to enable the Commission to schedule a date for them to give evidence. The statement said members of the public who intend to testify or volunteer information to the Commission but are unable to be present in person are requested to submit memorandum to the Commission. It gave the assurance that such memorandum would be treated confidentially. “The Commission assured persons who may testify or assist the Commission in its work that their identities would be protected and their safety guaranteed,” the statement said. President John Mahama established the Commission to enquire into judgment debt payments and other related matters under Constitutional Instrument (CI) 79 but it was gutted by fire on December 19 last year.
