Jul 14, 2013 at 12:12pm Gambaga NDC youth wants DCE for East Mamprusi Replaced An irritated youth group of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) calling itself the Comrades Network of Mamprugu in the northern region has kicked against any attempt to retain the current District Chief Executive for East Mamprusi, Adam Imoro. The group accused the Gambaga DCE, Adam Imoro of massive corruption and incompetence. The group has therefore asked President John Dramani Mahama to drop Adam Imoro on the list of his next MMDCEs for the various assemblies in the northern region. Spokesperson for the group, Salifu Abraham served notice of mobilizing the youth to force Adam Imoro out of office if he is retained. He asserted, “Adam Imoro does not deserve a second term in office as DCE for East Mamprusi and we are therefore sending early warning signal that we will deal with him should the President re- nominate him as the District Chief Executive of the area.” The group implied that the DCE, Adam Imoro wasted the first four years in office for which reason he should be replaced. “During his tenure of office as DCE for the area, there has been no meaningful development and Hon. Adam Imoro’s divide and rule tactics resulted in the dwindling fortunes of the NDC in the constituency which narrowly won the Gambaga seat in the 2012 elections by a little over 400 votes as against over 4000 votes in 2008 even when we were in opposition.” Mr. Abraham also accused the DCE of hijacking appointments to GYEEDA and other available job opportunities in the district as well as selectively awarding contracts to his cronies. “All these indicate that Hon. Adam Imoro does not deserve a second term in office and we are therefore suggesting to the President to appoint a young, talented and energetic person to administer the affairs of the district in an open and transparent manner as against the leadership style of the current DCE which is creating disaffection within the rank and file of the party in the constituency.” On corruption charges, Mr. Abraham alleged that the DCE, Hon. Adam Imoro in 2009 collected GH 32,500.00 cedis from three farmers with a promise to supply them government’s subsidized tractors which he has s since failed to deliver. He further challenged the DCE, Adam Imoro to account for 4 million cedis released to the assembly in 2010 for capacity building and expansion of the water delivery system in the East Mamprusi district. Mr. Abraham advised the Member of Parliament for Gambaga, Hon. Dr. Alfred Sugri Tia to stay neutral in the selection of the next DCE for the area. The Comrades Network of Mamprugu further reminded President John Mahama of his administration’s promise to complete the 45 kilomete rs Walewale-Gambaga road.
