July 18 - Apples of Gold The practice of necromancy, or contact - TopicsExpress

July 18 - Apples of Gold The practice of necromancy, or contact with the dead, is consistently forbidden by the Scriptures. Consider King Saul’s sad fate as just one example. In the Book of Isaiah, the prophet spoke of the abomination of seeking contact with the spirit world. Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, he called it rebellious and a way that is not good (65:2), iniquity and blasphemy (v. 7). He further rebukes the ones: “Who sit among the graves, and spend the night in the tombs” (v. 4). Every scriptural indication is that the place of the righteous dead is a place of comfort, a place apart from the cares of this world. Samuel specifically rebuked Saul for disturbing his peace (1 Samuel 28:15). Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God. —Leviticus 19:31
