July 18, 2005- In anticipation of activities planned to commemorate the 61st anniversary of the liberation of Guam Thursday, some families are already staking their claim to prime spots along the parade route. Guams annual Liberation Day festivities will take place this Thursday in downtown Hagatna. And for many families, the holiday is not only a chance to reflect on the past, but also an opportunity to spend time with friends and family. For some, the tradition starts days before July 21, like the Cruz family, who has been camping out their spot since July 16. Were just here saving our spot for the parade and were been doing this for ten years, David Cruz told KUAM News. Data Retrived by: Luis Lansangan for the Chronical History of the Island and the People of Guam Project; U.O.G. Course: PA 303. From everyone here at M.A.R.C. have a wonderful, safe, and fun Liberation Day!
