July 1924. A new use for discarded automobile horns has been discovered by Dr. William C. Fowler, health officer of Washington, D.C. Dr. Fowler has adapted an old rams-horn type auto horn, a relic of the days when they blew them with bulbs, and fitted it to his radio to serve as a loudspeaker. This gives as good a tone as any he could buy, he says. This photo of Dr. Fowler tuning a Freed-Eisemann Neutrodyne receiver. shorpy/node/17162?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+shorpy+%28Shorpy+-+The+100-Year-Old+Photo+Blog%29
