July 20, 2013 Today we stayed home for a picnic in the yard. Lynne and Andrew’s children and grandchildren arrived about noon. Rachel and Ken have Ella and Thea and Mark and Caroline have Sophia and Isabelle, the oldest is 8. They played in the pool and had a great time. We had a wonderful lunch outside. The day started out cloudy and cooler but the sun came out around 2 and the temperature was perfect. Around 5 the girls had tea. That is similar to pudding. There is no tea involved, this time it was fajitas! Tea just denoted the time of the meal not what is being served. Mark and Caroline left around 6 for another engagement and we had our tea with the rest of the crowd around 7. The girls had arranged a shop in the upstairs bedroom as a play game and we all “purchased” things. Great imagination. They departed at 9 and we all went to bed shortly thereafter. Tomorrow we may take it easy! July 21,2013 After breakfast we set out for 2 lovely small villages nearby. The first Godamling had quaint architecture and gardens. We stopped and had orange juice and hot chocolate before getting back in the car. Then we were off to Shere where the film The Holiday was filmed with Jude Law, Cameron Diaz, Jack Black and Kate Winslet. Lovely old church we could wander around and more flowers and pretty house. Most small towns have allotments or public gardens for families to raise vegetables and flowers. This one was right by the river and well used. Drove back through Guildford and had a late lunch of mozzarella and tomatoes. Excellent. Eating home tonight.
