July 24, 2013 - REAL GROWTH Psalm 23:4 (The Message) Even when the way goes through Death Valley, I’m not afraid when you walk at my side. One of the really cool things about Bible reading, is seeing a familiar phrase in a new way, which prompts a new thought or vision in your mind. I gained a fresh image of my walk with God as I read, “I’m not afraid when you walk at my side.” I pictured God walking right beside me. Literally…physically…not just spiritually, walking beside me as go to the store, pay a bill, deal with finances, deal with relationships, and/or deal with sickness in my body. God…right beside me. How in the world, with God right beside me, could I be afraid of not having enough money to pay a bill? How could I be afraid of a disease, with Him right beside me? How could I even fear death at my door, when He is standing there in the doorway with me? How wise and deep the Psalmist’s thoughts are as he writes, “I will fear no evil. I’m not afraid. I will fear nothing, for God is with me…walking at my side.” Thank You, Father, for a fresh vision from such a familiar scripture. Thank You most of all for walking beside me each and every day, through each and every situation in my life. I commit to hold my head higher, lift my eyes, and walk with a more steady step…even through the valleys of the shadows of tough times. Praise You for His unfailing love and promises that strengthen me moment by moment. All praise to You, Lord, AMEN. -Kerry Stephenson-
