July 25, 2014 Twelfth Step failure? Page 215 Having had a spiritual awakening as aresult of these steps,we tried to carry this message toaddicts,andto practice these principlesin all our affairs. StepTwelve There isno such thing asafailed Twelfth Step call. Even if our prospect doesnt get clean,we have accomplished two purposes. We have planted the seed ofrecovery in the mind ofthe addictwith whom we have shared our experience,strength, and hope. And we ourselves have stayed clean anotherday. Rarelydoesarecovering addict leave aTwelve Step call with anything but adeep dose of gratitude. Sometimes we are practicing the Twelfth Step without realizing it. When ourco-workers orother acquaintances know some of ourhistory and see what kindofperson we are today, they know where togo when theyhave afriend orloved one in need ofour help. We are often the best attraction thatNA hasto offer! For manyaddicts, the Twelfth Step isthe cornerstone of recovery.We trulybelieve that we can onlykeep what we have by giving it away The paradoxof the Twelfth Step is evident,forin giving,we receive.
