Other acts on the bill included Ted Nugent, Journey, Thin Lizzy, AC/DC & The Scorpions who performed their first concert in the U.S.. 1973: Approximately 600,000 people attended the Summer Jam at Watkins Glen in New York. The headliners of this concert were The Allman Brothers, The Band & The Grateful Dead. 1973: Deep Purple peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with “Smoke on the Water” which was their second and final top ten single in the U.S. 1970: Ned Kelly the first movie starring Mick Jagger in his first starring role premiered in Australia. 1957: Jerry Lee Lewis made his television debut on the Steve Allen Show performing “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On”. Sales of this single jumped immediately.
