July 7, 2013 27 animals received. 26 cats and 1 dog. 21 were owner surrenders (77%) 1 adoption. Also have 6 dogs that were thrown out of car that we have been trying to catch for last 2 days. They have already killed 3 outside shelter cats. So thanks for that brilliant move whoever you are. For those of you that are just seeing this post for the first time, I started to post the number of animals we receive on a daily basis to bring awareness to the volume of animals received. I forgot to mention earlier that we are over max capacity at the start. To you the following numbers will be staggering but to us it is a reality we have seen steadily increase since the shelter started 4 years ago. Keep in mind the numbers below are from JUST ONE WEEK. Running totals since July 1, 2013: Animals received - 126, 98 cats and 28 dogs Owner surrenders - 94 (74%) Animals adopted/fostered - 10 (8%)
