July Library Corner JULY LIBRARY CORNER Summer is now officially here and many are off to the beach or other vacation sites. However summer is also a good time to catch up on some reading and remember you can visit our church library whenever the church is open. There is a large choice of items for children and family reading and activities to help keep young people occupied during the summer months. You will also find many light books for beach or pool relaxing or some spiritual material that warms your hearts. UMW reading program numbers should be given to myself or Joyce Ayers by July 20th in order to receive 2014 certificates. JULY SUGGESTIONS: JOHN WESLEY – THE MAN AND HIS MISSION – DVD Presented by Keith Garner, this DVD takes you on a journey through England as you follow the story of John Wesley. Learn how this man of humble beginnings became a leader of his day and whose life’s work still influences social justice, politics and religion around the world today. This DVD along with other information about Wesley, his chapel and center came from the John Wesley Center in London. Those interested in learning more about out Methodist roots will find a library shelf dedicated to Wesley in our library. THRIVING AS A WORKING WOMAN by Gwen Ellis Drawing from her own experiences and research as well as surveys of working women, this author offers invaluable ideas and encouragement for all working women. Learn the importance of rest and a strong spiritual life, how to ask for help when needed and to find a job that fits your needs and desires. Discover something to help you live life with more love, friendship and companionship. TIMES AND SEASONS by Beverly Lahaye and Terri Blackstock This poignant Christian novel explores a single mother of three as she struggles with a son sent to a juvenile detention camp and the decision to marry a wonderful widower she loves.
