June 13 Then said I, Lord, how long? (Isa. 6:11.) Behold, I come quickly. (Rev. 22:12.) Gods promises He will fulfill, O heart of mine, be patient, still, Hell quickly come, await His will. The day draws near! Twill not be long till night is past; The shadows cannot always last, A happy morn is coming fast; Hope gives us cheer: The Morning Star will soon arise, The Lord will come from Paradise, Well meet Him in the open skies, Why should we fear? SOMETIMES we grow weary in waiting and worn in watching for Christs return. There is so much of sin and so much of sorrow about us. The world rushes on its way altogether unmindful of Him whom we love; the chosen people, Israel, are still scattered among the nations, and cut off from their inheritance. Thus it is that we long for His return. Beyond all of this, we want to see Him for our own sakes. We want to look into the face of the One who died for us. We want to behold the wound marks in His hands; we want to hear His blessed voice, and we want to know His glory. Thus, we cry, O Lord, how long, how long? His answer is, Behold, I come quickly. Quickly! It may not so seem to us. We are harassed with our slow-moving sense of time. With Him, however, a thousand years is as a day. And so, well watch, and look, and wait Until the swinging of the gate; For Christ our Lord will soon pass through, And come adown the skies of blue, Yes, He will quickly come.
