Just In Case You Have Travel Plans This Week: CDOT Region 5 Maintenance Activity Update: October 27 through 31 - October 24, 2014 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - Crews complete roadside clean up, fence, guardrail repairs regionwide; ready equipment for winter. SOUTHWEST/SOUTH-CENTRAL COLORADO – The following are this upcoming week’s maintenance activities that impact travel within CDOT Region 5’s two maintenance sections. (Numerous additional projects will be underway, but may only impact shoulders and/or cause only brief impacts in a mobile work zone). Motorists are advised to slow down and drive with extra caution whenever work vehicles or flashing lights are seen. Thank you for driving “Slow for the Cone Zone!” Area: La Manga Pass Location: SH 17, Mile Point (MP) 16.8 Duration: 10/28 through 10/29, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday Description: Bridge work; speed limit reduced and some single-lane, alternating traffic, minor delay. Area: Poncha Pass, South of Poncha Springs Location: US 285, Mile Point (MP) 119-126.5 Duration: 10/15 through 12/31 (as weather permits), 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday Description: Ongoing clean-up and repair work following seasonal flooding; crews will be clearing debris from culverts and drainage ditches; repairing shoulders; cleaning and repairing guardrail and delineators, mowing; clearing behind concrete barrier, and more. Expect periodic single-lane closures, a reduced speed limit and some travel delays. Area: Telluride West Location: SH 145, Mile Point (MP) 72 to 84.2 Duration: 10/28 through 10/31, 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday Description: Cleaning/shaping shoulders west of Telluride, from top of Keystone Hill to Placerville MP 84.2. Expect minimal delays. Area: Dolores to Rico Location: SH 145, Mile Point (MP) 9 to 33 Duration: 10/28 through 10/31, 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday Description: Mowing, minimal delays. Area: Rico North & South Location: SH 145, Mile Point (MP) 35-47.50, 12 miles south of Rico and .5 miles north of Rico Duration: 10/28 through 10/31, 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday Description: Bridge cleaning, inspection; minimal delays. Area: Alamosa and surrounding; Durango and surrounding Duration: 10/27 through 10/31, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday Description: Various highways will have roadside mowing and other off-road work such as fence and guardrail repairs and ditch cleaning. Crews are also prepping equipment for winter patrols. Minimal to no travel impact for roadside work, though motorists are encouraged to slow down and drive with extra caution where crews are working and equipment is present.
