Just a few lines but very poignant! I agree with him so much!! Having these silly appreciation dates does segregate and is part of the problem. What needs to be done is to include more history of blacks, Jews, Chinese, etc. as each subject is taught. Not left out and then added as a token!!! And include the WOMEN who have not been credited for their work as well! European immigrant men have fought along side the minorities from the founding and making of this country. A black man was the first person killed in the Revolutionary War, our fight for independence, and yet it took 100 years of oppression and slavery to be given independence!!! We are all Americans for the same cause!
