It happened in the early morning hours Thursday, west of the San Miguel Gate on the Tohono OOdham Nation. The chopper fired on the agents but missed them. The chopper then flew back into Mexico. Were told Mexican authorities contacted the U.S. and apologized for the incident. Dovalina said that, following protocol, CBP officers checked out the helicopter’s occupants, then allowed them to return to Mexico in the aircraft. “The only thing that I can tell you is that they did land here,” she said. “It was by mistake. (Ya, right!) They were processed and they were returned to Mexico.”
