Just a formal warning, just as I know anyone on here would inform others dealing with any business or personnel that was far less than professional.... This is for informational purposes to note, not as slander but more of protection for other models in the future. I was contacted by Steve Van Diest from socialyte Edmonton and Tiburon film works. We had worked together previously at another event and were talking about working together in the near future. He contacted me on Facebook asking if I could help out with a promo shoot with his company last minute. I agreed and stated terms as tfp. He agreed to this and to give images to me in our correspondence at the time. Once the shoot (both film and photo) had finished and I seen edited images go up I had tagged myself in them and requested if they could send me a copy of them via email. Steve is now refusing to give me any prints at all and is saying Im going against copy right infringement. My issue is this..... I never signed any contract with them because they didnt have one for me at the time so I said to just email it later (as we had already discussed this shoot ) , I have written correspondence of our terms of prints to be sent to me, they gave the images to several other companies for profit and marketing purposes (Lucid, Off shore swim wear, and Women of vision). At a minimum I asked for just the two images as a compensation for my time and travel as I spent almost 6/7 hours at their studio. I have to date still received no compensation be it images, or pay for something that was distributed for profit without my knowledge. They were also supposed to have a makeup artist come who failed to show on time so I had to do my own makeup and she did very little for a touch up. These images to my knowledge are still partial copyright to me as a model. Either way, I will be seeking compensation from them and will continue to deal with them in a professional manner. Unfortunately it has come to the point that they are being very belittling, rude, and unresponsive so I will be taking legal action to gain rights to at least some of those images. These images of me were distributed to 10 different people and companies to be used to... And potentially more that I am unaware of. That being said.... Ladies and gents, please, please, please be careful when dealing with the following people /businesses as they are all working together. Steve Van Diest, Mukai Maromo, Socialyte Edmonton, Ev (Van Diest) Photography, and Tiburon Films. Please be careful so this doesnt happen to you. I am by no means saying not to work with them.... But I am saying that if you do, approach with extreme caution and sign your Contracts with them PRIOR to the shoot before any services are exchanged so they cant go back on their word. These people WERE my friends but even friends will inevitably screw you over for some sort of profit or gain if available which is rather unfortunate to think of. To further affirm this is not slanderous, I can glady provide unedited conversation threads between myself and these particular clients. I was also not the only person that they did this too as well as there was a group of 5 girls in total. If any photogs have any legal clarity to share with me on TFP terms of images, please pm me as I will need some help with this. Thanks!
