Just a quick update for those who have left me VMs & msgs. First of all, thank you so much! We had a family meeting at Greenspring yesterday concerning my sister and they decided to keep her a few more weeks - more testing, more therapy, etc. Theres been some improvement in strength and weight (miniscule - TWO pounds!!!) but ANY improvement is good news. So, the final decision on the housing situation has been temporarily delayed. We did get to tour Assisted Living, MUCH nicer than where she is, but still small, more like an Efficiency. She didnt seem that thrilled, but going back to her apt would still most likely require around the clock supervision. Got information on a number of ways that could be handled, including a much appreciated assist from my good friend, and angel, German Vargas Campos, who helped care for my dad, as well as Ionas husband, Robert. Dana Priest had to head back to PA, but Sharon Priest Fuller, Larissa (so good to see her) and I took Iona to her regular dining room for dinner so she could connect with some of her old dinner buddies. In spite of all threats, we still could not get her to eat (she had watermelon - no calories, and finallllly agreed to a yogurt dessert - no main course!!!). Obviously, this would also be a problem if she went back to her apt. Theyve got her on a medication to increase her appetite, as well as giving her supplements and snacks, but we were able to see what a difficult process this is. Guess Ill need to remember to take those Wendys frosties with me every time I go - or maybe it was the Reeses peanut butter cups she had for snack during out meeting that dulled her appetite. Just hope she continues to gain and get stronger. On my own housing front, I received an application for a possible apt location in todays mail. Need to fill that out and get it back, as well as tons of other paperwork and phone calls to be handled. Sorry I havent been back in touch with everyone but definitely appreciate the contact. THANKS to everyone!
