Just a reminder that the chorus of moral indignation over CIA interrogation techniques has been brought to you by the lawmaker who is a serial rationalizer of drone warfare. Tell me that you are morally opposed to coercive interrogation AND that you are also morally opposed to the practice of atomizing groups of people (sometimes with baddies, sometimes just a shepherds wedding) with ordinance launched from drones, and Ill credit you with consistency. Tell me that you support selective use of coercive interrogation on known members of terror organizations when it can extract information that has potential to save lives AND that you support the selective use of drones -- again, I can respect your consistency. Tell me that you - like Ms Feinstein - feign outrage over a handful of appalling interrogation excesses in the aftermath of 9/11, but that you are willing to enthusiastically defend drones on the grounds they, hell, were only killing civilians in the single digits with these things on annual basis - Ill roll my eyes at the fatuous posturing and get on with whatever I was doing. BTW, Id personally rather be waterboarded than droned - but Im crazy.
