Just a simple - Where are you from and who do you miss? Is there something you would like us to know about your beloved dead? I am from New York City and I miss most of all my husband Artie. I also miss Liam, Jon, Judy, Shirley, Bill, Paddy, and people I always forget to name. What I want you to know about my husband is that he had a truly horrid childhood. He dropped out of school at 14 and when he was drinking got to the point where he was homeless. When he died he had 47 years sober and had helped literally 100s of people attain and maintain their own sobriety. He was a rough and tumble kind of guy with a tender heart who in spite of how damaged he was helped people every day. He was self educated and one of the brightest men I have ever met. i miss sharing things with him. I miss his sense of humor. (We loved bad puns. Whats the color of a burp? Burple.) I miss him knowing me and understanding me the way no one ever did. I miss the way we fit together in every way. He didnt think he was capable of love again and it took him ten years - but when we got married - our thirteen years of marriage were the happiest time (even though we scratched and fought) in each of our lives. We took care of each other - we clung on to each other - we love each other.Now that I am alive without him I still lean on to him - i still lean into him. xo
