Just a wee bit of mechanical knowledge for today. Clutch job on a jeep TJ. Looks as though the release bearing (which is used to disengage the clutch) and the teeth on the pressure plate, are completely eaten away! This is caused by simple use, good ol wear and tear, but I noticed the clutch itself looked decent. So from what we see, we figure someone installed a clutch plate, but didnt look at the other parts to see if they were starting to wear. Not only did we need to replace the front bearing retainer on the transmission, because of damage, but it also took out the clutch slave! An extra 300 In parts that could have been avoided, not to mention the tow job!
