Just a wee reminder from the Committee: Whilst we are in the middle of another dry spell we would like to remind plotholders that the use of hosepipes or sprinkler systems for direct watering is not permitted under the Tenancy Agreement. Hosepipes may only be used to fill water butts from which water may be taken by watering can. The reasoning behind this rule, which is common to other allotment sites, is that running taps and hoses may be all too easily ignored or even inadvertently forgotten about thus allowing expensive water to run to waste ( we have a metered supply to the site so we pay for every drop). The use of watering cans, though tedious, does ensure that the user is aware and totally in control of water usage.
