Just after midnight on May 31, 2009, I got a phone call telling us that we needed to go to the hospital. Unlike most calls that end in a trip to the hospital, this call ended with the best gift we have ever received...our beautiful, kind hearted son. Most of you know that we adopted Jaden, but some of you are new friends who havent heard our story. I wont bore you with all the details, but know that it started with a birthmom that made an incredibly brave decision, a fantastic lawyer that walked us through what seemed like mountains of paperwork and court dates, a knowledgeable social worker that helped us through our home study, and one little boy that was made to complete our family. November is National Adoption Month. There are around 104,000 children waiting to find their forever homes in the US. While the hope is that all of these kiddos get adopted, there are so many ways to have an impact on these young lives...donate an extra Christmas present, volunteer at a local foster agency, take extra school supplies to a local foster agency.
