Just an FYI - I received a call on my cell phone today from an unknown number. It was a man whose accent would have indicated that he was from India. He said his name was Henry (really?). He said he was from Microsoft and had received an error code from my computer and that he had my computers ID number and needed to access my system to fix the problem and that I could watch him do it. It will be very easy he said. He kept saying it was a virus or system error. I told him I was not on my computer, my computer was off, and that I was at work; so how could my computer be sending him an error message. He said that he had my computer ID and that I could verify his legitimacy with a phone number. I asked what kind of computer I owned and that if he had my system ID he should also be able to tell me the make and model, or at least the operating system of my computer. He just kept reiterating that he had my computer ID number and that he needed to fix it. He eventually gave me the number (855) 556-9567 extension 1103. Later he said to “just call the number and ask for him, Henry (seriously? That’s the most creative fake name he could come up with?). I didnt buy any of what he had to say and did not call back the number. I know this was a scam and anyone who reads this should pass this scam along to everyone they know on social media. The motive is to access your computer and gather your personal or financial information or to use your computer as a zombie to hack other computers. If it didnt work some of the time, it wouldnt be worth it to them to do it at all so please be aware and make others aware!
