Just back from the 6/25/12 Midland City Council Meeting and Briefing Session. Good news! After 3 years of the council talking about it, the Tradewinds Blvd Extension is getting closer to becoming a reality. Tradewinds Blvd will now connect Thomason Dr. and the Gateway Plaza Addition. Hopefully this will help alleviate the traffic congestion after football games and offer the residents in the area another entry/exit point to their neighborhood. However the extension is not scheduled to be complete till Sept. 2014. If the city had acted 3 years ago when residents and the Chamber of Commerce asked for the extension we would have been ahead of the problem instead of playing catch-up. Since this is in District 4 the current councilman should have spearheaded the project, but apparently growth to our west is not his concern. Time to change the status quo and return District 4 back to conservative leadership!
