Just back from the weekend excursion to Henrico County for the USCT Extravaganza. A great weekend. Fabulous weather, got to witness --and photograph-- two of the three battles of the weekend. Saw the largest gathering EVER of USCT reenactors... about 80 of the 300 in ALL OF THE UNITED STATES. Great people, many of whom I consider good friends, who I got to photograph up close and personal. The official hosts, the Henrico County Tourism people, went out all the way and simply did a GREAT job. They even found an errant reporters notebook that I had carelessly dropped inside one of the shuttles. To a journalist, lots of VALUABLE stuff in it. Wish I had stayed onsite Sunday night. The return trip to Gettysburg featured bumper to bumper traffic from Richmond, VA, all the way to Rockville, MD. Its a MIRACLE I retained my sanity. But Im glad I went!
