Just came back from Northern California, from a 2-week fire assignment working on a BAER Team (Burnt Area Emergency Respond). The BAER Team is an interdisciplinary team (Geologist, Hydrologist, Soil Scientist …) assessing the damage done by a wild fire and then after an intensive field study and analysis makes recommendations for what can be done to protect values at risk (property & life) within and downstream of the burned area. In this case we were working on the King Fire which burnt about 100,000 acres in the Northern Sierra Nevada.
