Just doing an inward countdown to the 1st of January. Funny how - TopicsExpress

Just doing an inward countdown to the 1st of January. Funny how each new year brings with it something different beyond the date on the calendar. There is a sense of feeling that you can start over – yet there is also an uneasiness born from feeling as though there might be a few failures (based on unmet previous New Year resolutions) - almost as though one should make resolutions, about resolutions. In any case I go into this New Year expectant. The God that I have come to know in 2014 is one that will not fail in the least. He has repeatedly broken rules for me. Yes, how can he fail when even laws cannot hold him back? He is unparalleled in his ability to subvert structures for his own purposes. My pastor says ‘sometimes you are being taught by the people you are meant to teach’. What causes that? Maybe an inability to see and voice where God is at work in our lives? Maybe an inability to trust and understand that God has called us to a separate life? I went through something recently that taught me something. We are 100% responsible and accountable for every decision we make; yet in all these things the path of honesty is best. In Psalms 32:8, God assures us that he is with us to guide us, and show us the way we should go, he is there to instruct us and counsel us. Other versions say – ‘advise us’ these words – ‘counsel’, ‘advise’ connote the possibility of options. However the word ‘instruct’ shows that God gives us direct commandments in our walk. Therefore choosing to go against them is a rebellion. This is interesting because in this particular passage he speak about how he will ‘show you the path for your life’ or ‘show you which way you must go’. I really find this interesting because it means some of the things that God calls you to are specific to you. That’s why revelation is not what we think God is saying or how we perceive him or his message, rather revelation is God’s instructions to us. God has always appeared to man with an instruction. Whether he functioned as Jesus, The Holy Spirit or sent an angel – there is always an instruction. Therefore revelation is always an instruction from God. What is God instructing you lately? Do not instruct yourself child of God, I know children of God who like pretending they have heard from God but they know it’s really their own soulish desires. Some of these dear ones are serious practitioners of partial obedience – I am ashamed to admit that in some instances I have been found among them (few and far between, very very few and far between). That’s right, you know that time where its almost as if the Almighty himself is looking you in the eye- pointing in a particular direction – repeating his words, and as if in a replay of an action scene where the one person tries to jump to save someone from making a bad move by yelling “N-o-o-o-o-o” you do it. Oops. Done. I’m sorry? Are you really sorry? Is your apology an apology for your inward lack of apology? Because the truth is there is an inward satisfied smile (Cheshire grin style) almost reflecting on your error with bliss. But, the pious semi-religious you tries to keep a straight face as you apologise. Its not funny bazalwane. Have some remorse. But beyond remorse have a sense of honesty. Its not the misdeed, no it’s the inner attitude of the heart. Be honest. Most times we rebel as a solution – a means to heal ourselves. However, it may be better to not self-protect and find our own way. It may be better to just be humble. What is humility? Doing what needs to be done and saying what needs to be said… #FoodForThought #ILoveMyPastors #JTLKid
