Just finished up with Steves ALS clinic at Crestwood. Thankfully, this was a MUCH BETTER experience than the one we had initially when we went to Kirklin. He saw a wonderful and BEAUTIFUL neuromuscular specialist named Dr. Arora ( pronounced like Princess Aurora and she looked like one too)! He also was tested by respiratory therapists, swallow specialists, and had a consultation with PT and dietician. I highly give the thumbs up to the diet plan they recommended for him to try to keep from losing any more weight. They gave recipes for all things chocolate, creamy, sugary, ice cream, and custardy! Lol! They also talked about the beauty of butter and heavy cream. My mouth was watering by the time we left! Lol! I would highly recommend The ALS Clinic at Crestwood Medical Center. They gave us tons of information, tools to help with things like shaving, writing, and eating, and lots more. Except for weight loss and weakness, Steve showed no more progression than in November and NONE in the area of respiratory! That is huge because at later stages of ALS it is the respiratory problems that lead to the big problems. Overall it was a great experience and good news! Yay!
