Just finished watching 12 years a slave. I do not see how anyone could watch this movie and not be touched in some way. Amazing movie!!! I think that the biggest thing that I take away from this movie, happens when Solomon returns home. After 12 years of situations beyond his control, all he said was that he was sorry for his appearance. He did not ask for a pitty party, or rant and rave about how he had been wronged. He showed the most humble of hearts and embraced what he still had. That moment hit me like a ton of bricks. It also made me think of how key events can change your life. I my Grama Hattie had not died on that plantation in Georgia where she worked as a share cropper, my dad would never have been sent to Chicago at the age of 2, and Im sure you can figure out the rest. So very thankful tonight for Gods plan and purpose.
