Just for fun earlier today, I did a little research on the football districts Seminole and Brownfield are in. Seminole stands at 0-3 at this time. Last year, the Indians hosted Andrews in the season finale for third place and a playoff spot. However, Andrews is also 0-3 as I type this. However, starting with this school year, the top four teams go. Shallowater and Lubbock-Cooper are tied atop the standings at 3-0 while Lubbock Estacado is in third by itself at 2-1. Levelland is behind Lubbock Estacado at 1-2, having lost to both Estacado and Cooper. If the regular season ended this weekend, Shallowater, Lubbock-Cooper, Lubbock Estacado and Levelland would all advance. But since the top four teams go, everybody still appears to have a shot. As for Brownfields district, Brownfield is 2-1 in district, tied with Idalou for second. Both are one game behind Denver City, who is 3-0 in district. Slaton and Kermit are both 1-2, with each ones win coming over Lamesa (0-3). However, like Class 3A, the top four teams also advance in Class 2A, too. Under last years rule of the top three, if the regular season ended today, Denver City, Brownfield and Idalou would advance. However, with the top four going, tie-breakers would have to take place between Slaton and Kermit, who have yet to play. Lamesa still has a shot, too. I took a look at the district Brownfields district would play in bi-district next. Bushland is alone atop the standings at 3-0. Childress, Littlefield and Muleshoe are all 2-1 in district. Dimmitt and Friona are both 0-3. Even with four teams, Dimmitt and Friona are a long shot make it. Thanks for listening and God bless.
