Just for the record, if you wonder why I post info on disaster - TopicsExpress

Just for the record, if you wonder why I post info on disaster preparedness, I spent three years working as a Utah County Special Deputy as a dispatcher, the last year as the department supervisor. I was/am trained in dealing with public emergencies. And, as many of you know, my father owned a large food storage business called Sam-Andy Food Storage and I spent several years working for him. I learned many, many things about the importance of being prepared for potential disasters, such as the one were now facing. One of our mottos was better five years too soon, than five minutes too late. In other words, if a panic breaks out -- and so far Ive seen no evidence -- then a lot of stores will be out-of-goods very quickly, and any new deliveries will be gobbled up within minutes. So it makes sense to have a modest supply stored of the things you need. When I post, its always first with my immediate family members in mind. Some of Warren and Perrys children have chosen to stay close to me over the years, some have drifted away into their own lives. If they wish to consider the knowledge and advice Im sharing, it will be to their betterment. If not, then my conscience is clear. As the last tribe member of my fathers family, I feel it my duty to share my thoughts and input on events that warrant our attention, and this Ebola outbreak surely meets the criteria. However, you must be the final judge on what advice of mine you wish to follow. So far, everything Ive suggested is exactly what FEMA has advised since the 9-11 attack. I believe it is good advice. If youve followed my suggestions and quietly built up a three-month supply of food and daily essentials, then you should be able to sleep well at night. I have more advice and suggestions to share if this worsens. Hopefully it wont, and the items youve acquired you can use up later after the danger has passed. The three-month supply might not be enough if this worsens and lingers, but at least youll have something to get you through the worst of it. You dont have to spend a lot of money; just go down to Dollar Tree or one of the dollar stores and carefully select some inexpensive things you use on a daily basis. You dont need to stock $12 a bottle Tide detergent when a simple $1 laundry detergent from a dollar store will suffice. In any event, the last thing I do each night, and the first thing I do in the morning is to check Googles news site and peruse the articles of interest. When I see a red flag, Ill post about it. No need to panic here, but definitely the early birds will be rewarded if things worsen.
