Just giving a update on a few Items I have been working on since I last reported an update. For the Month of January so far we have had our regular Council Meeting and we have a few more agenda Items we need to visit on January 28, 2015. On January 9, I was at our Monthly ITCA Meeting and at Noon I was able to attend the Legislative Luncheon where Members of the Executive Board for Arizona Indian Gaming Association got to hear the New Legislative Topic of the New Governor. Topics and his outlook for the State is still under construction with his Transition Team. But as AIGA goes we are pushing the Governor to appoint someone who can handle Native American Affairs. For our Local Tribal Issues during our council meeting we has some report given to us by Whiteriver Headstart, IHS, Navajo County Partnership, and Burial Assistance program. With the Burial Assistance program they or IHS will no longer be paying for Transportation of a Desceased Body from any Non IHS hospital to Funeral home, that is now an out of Pocket Cost to the Individuals Family, which is a rough estimate of close to $300.00. In this discussion I encouraged council to create a budget so we can take care of this cost for our Tribal Members or to create a Edit Account for the Office of the Vice Chairman but no action was Taken. This is an Issue I will bring up again because I am aware a lot of Families are unemployed and do not have this kind of money.I also have an important agenda Item I will be bringing up on January 28- this item is the Renal Care Program for our Patients here in Whiteriver. As you know a lot of the Renal Care Patients have the difficulty of Driving to Globe and Showlow to get their treatment done, so I am pushing them to Build a New Center for Whiteriver and state of the art center for the comfort and care of our Tribal Members. I heard too many complaints on this program its time to get the best care of WMAT. If you like to support this agenda Item please do so by attending the meeting January 28, and or write statements to me regarding your complaints of the Renal Care program; rather you are effected by it as a patient or by a family member who receives treatment from the Renal care program. TODAY JANUARY 20, 2015 I started my day by piecing together steps to Starting the leg work for the WMAT to build and house a Nursing home and Hospice care Facility and Assistant Senior Living Apartment Location; where we can have our elder reside and also get the care they need. This is something that can be done I had a Telephone call with IHS Director to discuss this project. After my research is done on this I will present it to Tribal Council to further the process and work on this project. After looking into this program I also see that this program can be self sustained by its own funds and can be a third party billing program. I have a vision to have doctors RNs and CNAs from our Tribe to run this program and to cater to the need of our Apache Elders. This is a work in progress and we need the prayers for us to get through the challenges to get this done. Also along side that project is to get a JV Center and the leg work of that will begin soon as I will start to meet with our DPS Director Andrew Kane and other Department heads. I will also be starting a new Law Enforcement Sub-Committee with members of the Tribal Council and other Department Heads to get things done. No more talk I say its time to get things going. Our Tribal Finances are still a big issue and we need to know where we are at. But to date we still have no accurate account balances due to our tribal finance system being down and in the reboot process since May of 2014. I hope this update was helpful please feel free to contact me for further concerns thank you. Jerome Kasey III - Dist. IV Councilman. I am still located at the AYP Program Building next to the Kennel. I have been here since November due to sewer flooding during the Thanksgiving Holidays. I hope to see the Council move back into our Offices as soon as possible since it has been hard for our tribal members to reach us. My tribal Email address is [email protected]
