Just got a call from a Hospital calling my attention to a Major burn patient.Information I gather from one of the Doctors is conclusively helpless because of a burn patient who is supposed to be having at least a litre of fluid per hour but is having only 500mls every four(4) hours is definitely a disaster for the patient. I am really embarrassed as a Burn surgeon why some hospitals keep managing patient they cannot handle.Such a Patient should be referred immediately to a General Hospital preferably a Burn Center, otherwise it is mortality.(Gas explosion,30% burn with suspected inhalation injury and after about 6 hours patient is yet to be review by a Burns Specialist is definitely a criminal offence).It is even worse than ebola infection. I had voluntary called the hospital myself and told them the amount of fluid to be administered to the patient.I cant do any further thing because they dont want to refer the patient. Just wonder why some hospitals and Doctors keep doing the wrong thing and mismanaging life.This is human life we are talking about not your personal gain or profit. The funny thing is that the relatives of this patient will feel the patient is being properly managed by a good doctor who is slowly killing their relative in their ignorance. I am definitely angry about this kind of action by some stupid management of some hospitals and Doctor. I presently have a similar boy who is due for contracture release because of a doctor that refuse to call the attention of a specialist when due and the child now will need more pain for the scar to release.
