Just got home from seeing the cardiac specialist in Toledo, Ohio. - TopicsExpress

Just got home from seeing the cardiac specialist in Toledo, Ohio. It was a wonderful trip. I now see why my Pittsburgh doctors sent me to see this person and why it took 15 months to get in. He is very good and I am most pleased with him, his staff and the Toledo Medical Center as well as the staff at the Radison. All were A1 top notch folks. Dr Grubb did confirm I do have yet another autoimmune disorder that is affecting the heart and that most likely I inherited it and had it as a child. He believes it got exacerbated by an illness, most likely the blood clots, and is running amuck. He is of the most highest agreement the Stem Cell Transplant is my utmost greatest and urgent need and a life saving need at this urgent time. He couldnt state at this time if the transplant will help the cure neuropathy, but he does feel it will cause a positive game changer. He personally knows staff at Duke and Northwestern so should the transplant occur at either institution, he can advise them on how to best treat me That was so reassuring. He is very confident the transplant will happen. He did add yet another med and I am to see him back in 6 mos. I foresee another MegaBus trip in 6 mos to see him. I look forward to seeing him back so I can learn even more. I was amazed how much he taught me. We had a great experience with the Mega Buss. Will be using them more often. I got to meet some very cool people during this trip. While waiting at the stop to return back to Pgh, I spoke with a med student who works at Toledo Medical Center. He was heading out of town on spring break. He had the highest regards for the transplant and feeling it would do well in helping me. Ironically he was reading CMU Professor Randy Pasquals book. I look forward to meeting up with this awesome student after the transplant. Now to hurry up, unpack and repack for Duke. Need to scoot out of town in a few hours before the storms blow in. Hoping Duke will have better news for me when I see the Doc on Thurs. This time I am driving to Duke & Back. My blessing during this drive....is the GPS system my nieces got me at Christmas time. I may actually find Duke before the year changes and I find the wrong oceans. I do hope all have a fantastic week. My your challenges not stick around to long and may there be some light and laughter to ease the most dramatic of the challenges. Life is good and full of blessings.
