Just got in the door and want to let you know the happenings of the day. I opened our mail and received a card that reminds us of Psalm 46:1, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help. These words are so appropriate for us today. When Troy and I arrived this morning a nurse was on duty whose specialty is oncology. She is one sharp lady. She is the floor charge nurse and knows all the ins and outs of the hospital system. Mama Bear and she got along just fine. Our mission was to find out where Ron is bleeding from and what action plan can be put in place. The hospitalist came early afternoon. The nurse had lots of information for him as he was not the same one we had on Monday. She advised him he needed to request a consult from Dr. Lafransis and an gastroenterologist doctor. An hour later we were advised Ron was being scheduled for another colonoscopy to have in the morning. As I type he called and said he is going in between 8:30 and 9AM. Thy are going to use a pediatric scope and try to get farther into the intestines. Dr. L. will see us tomorrow as well. Troy, Ron and I had some very special moments today. We shed tears and know that we are dealing with mortality. God has been preparing us for a time such as this for several years. When my post polio syndrome was diagnosed our lives changed significantly. I understand how hard it is to lose independence and the ability to drive, not be able to work a job you love and not be able to do simple chores or participate in activities at will. I have learned to transition to this season of my life with Rons patience, support and help. Now is my opportunity to support him. His load is heavier dealing with a serious terminal illness. This is where the for better or worse, in sickness and in health portion of our vows, we made 50 years ago this coming July, are put into action. We know without a doubt that our God can heal. A miracle would be awesome. We also know that we have lived our lives together bonded with God for such a time as this. There is peace and joy that comes with knowing heaven is for real. We dont have any unfinished business, dont harbor hurts or secrets and rejoice in facing good times and the tough times together. The good times by far outweigh the tough ones. We are proud of our family and the legacy our grandchildren have. Our goal is to live out our faith, cherish each day and walk with our Lord. He is indeed, our refuge and strength, a very present help. - Corky
