Just got off the phone with Capt. Gary Klein of the FWC (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservaton Commission), who advised me that next weeks meetings in Vero Beach and Bradenton are for the purpose of soliciting the publics opinion on anchoring issues, that they will be making recommendations to the Legislature based on what they hear and a (perceived) consensus, and that the FL legislature is preparing to act in some fashion. I dont know if I can say this in any stronger fashion - we MUST act, we MUST make our views in this matter known - or we can expect to lose our rights to anchor in large parts of Florida. I would not hesitate to state that our position in this matter is extremely tenuous, and that the Legislature is prepared to ignore the Public Trust Doctrine in favour of those who would restrict our rights - again, based on the conversation I just had.
