Just got off the phone with the teacher at Danielles school. She is changing her policy with the points. So long as children are not going within the first 20 minutes back after recess, meaning they didnt go on their break, she will not charge them points. If they are back within 3-5 minutes, (the bathroom is just around the corner) they wont be charged either. I pointed out that they may need a visit to the nurse Id they were longer and she agreed, but noted that 20 minutes, etc would not be tolerated. She explained that bathrooms were unsupervised within class time so that was part of the reason for her policy. Understandable, but there are other ways to monitor how long students were gone etc. At first she was just going to give this compromise to Danielle, but I made sure I told her I knew it was happening to other students, so she amended it to apply to the entire class. I will still be making a file, but this is at least addressed, and for now things are okay.
